If there is one thing I hate it is the statement that "he doesn't suffer fools gladly" (or words to that effect).

So what makes a fool? Someone who doesn't agree with you perhaps. Or maybe someone who has a simpler view on life.

The idea that not to sfg is praiseworthy when describing some impressive person is totally flawed. It describes arrogance - is that so praiseworthy?
